I've had a busy week, but have had a little time to reflect on it.
Something came up in conversation with the good folk that made ‘The Love Gonk’, and it is that which I would like to share today.
It is the notion of holding on.
Last year was a learning curve for me, and I am thankful for the experiences I had. Despite this, I am the sort of Gonk that likes to be settled, and have consistency. It is that trait, which can keep one from pursuing their dreams.
I can make it my endeavour to stop change occurring. To keep my situation the same. I can struggle to remain where I would prefer to be.
A nice analogy is to see life as a river, pulling us along in it’s current. Soon, if fortunate, we may find a tree root from which to cling to. And from that static place we can view the environment that surrounds us, and the rushing waters that would pull us on. And here do we struggle. To hold on to the comfort and security we have happened upon.
If we let go of the root, and set ourselves adrift, we may again learn of the rhythm of the river. By letting go of what we have, the river may take us on to where we are supposed to be. We can progress.
I accept that this is an idealistic reasoning to the equation that is life. But, as illogical as it is, life appears to decode itself in-line with the paradox.
Well, that was the convo. Hopefully there is some good in it.
Until next time, I have been Adam, The (Optimistic) Gonk
