ROBIN HOOD GONK FREE CROCHET PATTERN – Doll Clothes

I have used a Nude Gonk for my base, see Adam Gonk for instructions. You can add Green tights to the bottom of the Gonk’s body by working R1.- R13. in Dark Green Yarn, before continuing with flesh colour for the rest of body.

Suit – Robin Hood doll free crochet pattern

I have used 2 tones of green for my outfit, Light Green for the main piece and Dark Green for the collar to match the hat. I have also used Brown yarn for the details.

Suit main body

Robin-Hood Gonk free crochet patternWe will be working in rounds and joining into the first st at the end of each round. Start each round working into the same st as you last joined.
Using Light Green, ch36 and sl st into first to join forming a circle,
R1. sc in each st, sl st into first sc to join (36)
R2. turn to work this row back in the other direction,
ch1(does not count as a st), sc x12, turn again, leaving the rest of the round unworked (12)
R3. sc x12 over the previous row, continue around working over the previously skipped stitches of R1., ch6, skip the next 6 st, sc x 12, ch6, skip the next 6 st, sl st into first sc to join (36)
R4. From here continue working in joined rounds.
sc in each st and ch around, sl st into first sc to join (36)
R5.-R6. sc in each st, sl st into first sc to join (36 for 2 rounds)
R7. *sc x5, inc,* repeat between * 5 more times, sl st into first sc to join (42)
R8.-R12. sc in each st, sl st into first sc to join (42 for 5 rounds)
R13. work crab stitch (reversed sc) around as an edging, sl st to join, fasten off and weave in ends. (42)
The back of the shirt is the side with the extra row of 12 sts. This makes the shirt slightly higher at the back and gives room for the Gonk’s nose at the front.

Suit sleeves

The ch6 and skipped 6 sts made in R3. make the armholes. Join yarn to the bottom of the armhole with a sc in the middle (3rd st along of the opposite side of the ch6 sts),
R1. sc evenly around the armhole, making sc in each of the 6 ch st and 6 sc st and 1 sc around the edge post of the front side and 3 sc around the edge of the back side, sl st into the first sc to join
(Total of 16 sc stitches)
R2.-R6. sc in each st, sl st into first sc to join (16 for 5 rounds)
R7. finish with a round of crab stitches as edging to match the hem, fasten off. (16)
Repeat for the other armhole and weave in ends.

Suit collar

Using Dark Green, with the right-side of the shirt facing you, join yarn to the neckline at the middle of the front side,
R1. sc in ch st of the opposite side of original starting chain, sl st to join (36)
R2. turn and work into the back loops only in the other direction,
*sc x5, inc,* repeat between * 5 more times, sl st to join (42)
R3. continue in the same direction, *ch2, hdc x3, ch2, sl st x3,* repeat between * 6 more times (42)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Suit details

Using Brown yarn, add a belt and tie string. Use the surface slip stitch technique to add a belt all the way around the main body, going into the shirt in between the 3rd and 4th round from the bottom hem.
Add a tie string by cutting a length of yarn and stitching through the shirt in a crossing lace up pattern. Work both ends up from just above the belt, finishing with the ends coming through the collar section at the top. Tie the ends together in a bow and trim off excess ends.

Hat – Robin Hood doll free crochet pattern

Robin Hood Gonk free crochet patternI have used Dark Green to match with the collar of my shirt.

R17. sc x17, hdc, [hdc, dc], [dc, hdc], hdc, sc x17, sl st into first sc to join (40)
R18. 18. sc x18, hdc, [hdc, dc], [dc, hdc], hdc, sc x18, sl st into first sc to join (42)
R19. work crab stitch (reversed sc) around as an edging, sl st to join, fasten off and weave in ends. (42)

Hat feather

Robin Hood Gonk free crochet patternI have used Red yarn for my feather.
Chain 11, sl st x2 from the second ch from hook, sc x4, sl st x4, ch1 and work back down the opposite side of original chain, sl st x4, sc x4, sl st x2, sl st into the first sl st to join, ch4.
Cut the yarn leaving a tail and pull through to fasten off.
Weave in your starting end. Use your tail end and yarn needle to attach your feather under the rim fold on the side of your hat, thread through the hat at the base under fold, angle your feather towards the back and thread back out through the base of your feather. Make a couple more stitches at the base of feather and secure inside the hat before cutting off excess and weaving in end.

Bow and arrows – Robin Hood Gonk free crochet pattern

Robin Hood Gonk free crochet patternMake the Bow using Brown yarn. Chain 16 and work into the back bumps of the chain,
sl st into the second back bump from hook, sl st x2, sc x3, hdc x3, sc x3, sl st x3 (15)
Cut yarn and pull the tail end plus the starting end through the last loop to fasten off.
Pull tight and trim off excess ends.

For your Arrows, cut lengths of Brown yarn (Approximately the length of your bow). 3 arrows fit inside the quiver but you may want to make more in case of making mistakes when adding feathers.

Starch your bow and arrows to shape and stiffen. I have used PVA glue mixed with water.
Soak the bow in the starch liquid, squeeze out excess and lay out shaped into a curve.
Soak the lengths of yarn, squeeze out excess and lay them out straight.
Allow the pieces to dry.

Add your bow string. Using thinner yarn and your yarn needle, thread through the top and bottom of the bow and knot the string on both ends.

Robin Hood Gonk free crochet patternAdd some feathers to the ends of your arrows by taking a length of Red yarn and threading through your yarn needle half way so there are 2 strands of yarn.
Thread the Red through one end of a stiffened arrow Brown yarn, cut the yarn so you have 2 short strands of red through.

Robin Hood Gonk free crochet patternTurn to repeat through the side of the same place so you have the Red yarns crossing.
Use the tip of your needle to gently unravel the plies of the Red yarn.
Section the Red yarn to flatten and trim. Reposition the feathers to go the 4 directions.
Repeat for 3 arrows.

Quiver

RobinHood Gonk Free Crochet PatternRobin Hood Gonk Free Crochet PatternUsing Brown yarn, start with a magic ring,

R3. Weave in your starting end here. Work this round into the back loops only, sc in each st, sl st into first sc to join (8) Work in continuous rounds from here using a marker to keep track of your first st.
R4.-R13. sc in each st  (8 for 10 rounds)
Slip stitch into the next st to level off. chain 40, sl st into base of quiver, ch1 and sl st back up the ch 40, sl st into the top to join and fasten off. Weave in end.

Insert your arrows into the quiver and place onto the Gonk, placing the strap over one shoulder and across the body.
